Challenge
tktktk: Show consumers how Apple is owning its value-driven mission of leaving the world better than we found it. This spans our innovation across products, the environment, and our community impact.
Protecting the planet: Demonstrate how Apple’s investments in environmental partners directly impact communities who are on the front lines of climate change impact.
Approach
I co-directed an 8-minute short documentary film that showcased black landowners learning sustainable forestry at the McIntosh SEED community forest in Georgia. I conducted a series of on-camera interviews, partnered with our editor in post to develop the narrative arc for the film, and authored a companion long-form story for.
PRESS RELEASE
BERKELEY, CA — Shotgun Players proudly presents David Henry Hwang’s award-winning, critically acclaimed satirical play Yellow Face, running from May 10 to June 8, 2025, at the Ashby Stage. Directed by Daniel J. Eslick, this hilarious, poignant, and personal exploration of race, identity, and representation in American theater, Yellow Face continues to challenge and entertain audiences with its humor and relevance.
Inspired by real-life events, Yellow Face follows Hwang’s alter ego, DHH, as he inadvertently casts a white actor in the role of an Asian character while–ironically–attempting to combat racial misrepresentation in Hollywood. What unfolds thereafter is a sharp-witted, self-aware comedy that flirts with hypocrisy, challenges assumptions, and forces audiences to confront the complexities of identity politics in America.
“In my opinion this is a play about allyship. The core conflict of the play, being failed allyship on both sides of this situation of privilege. From DHH in his own failed allyship to his community, and Marcus Gee, put in a situation wherein he doesn’t know how to be an ally and thus, simply takes advantage of the situation,” said Director, Daniel Eslick. While satirical... I’ve seen that happen... More than once.”
Since its premiere in 2007, Yellow Face has been lauded for its daring humor and social critique, winning an Obie Award for Playwriting and earning a Pulitzer Prize nomination. Shotgun Players’ production continues the theater’s tradition of staging bold, thought-provoking works that challenge audiences to engage with pressing cultural issues.
